Which Tree are you really eating from?

Listen to this sermon

As I read the account of the garden of Eden where Adam and Eve fell because they chose to partake from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil even though they were specifically told not to, a thought came into my mind. Are the majority of Christians today still doing what Adam and Eve had done?

We often think of sin as doing something – an act or acts that God said we should not! But reading what happened in the garden of Eden will begin to open your eyes to see that sin is beyond what we do but who we want to become! Yes, they disobeyed God when they partook from that forbidden tree! But if we look carefully at what caused them to want to do it, we begin to realize that sin began with a desire that satan exploited in Adam and Eve. What is that? – the desire to be gods independent of God!

If we think about it, isn’t this the same sin that caused Lucifer to fall from his position as a chief worship leader of heaven because he wanted to be god himself. This desire with the resulting rebellious action is really the core of what sin is all about. The irony is the moment you want to ascend to be god, you descend into sin and darkness!

How can we prevent ourselves from being God? Stop eating from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil and partake from the Tree of Life? Listen carefully to the sermon and discover how you can walk with God as Noah and Enoch did. Amen.
