The Year of Rest: Advancing the Kingdom!
The Church of the Jews and the Gentiles!
Rom 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
It is amazing that Paul the apostle called to the gentiles was a man passionate for the salvation of the Jews even though they were the ones who persecuted him most severely. In fact, in Romans 9, Paul went to the extent of saying that he was even willing to sacrifice his own salvation which he treasured for the salvation of the Jews! To a great extent, we as gentiles own a debt to Paul for his commitment and theology that the gospel is for the Jews and for the gentiles.
How can we share the passion of the apostle Paul? When I was in Israel, I was pleasantly surprised to see the reaction of cab-drives, shop owners when they hear that we had come from Thailand. Their answers were typical – they had either visited Thailand and wanted to go again or they have heard so much from their friends about Thailand that they are looking forward to come here.
It is wonderful that we can be trained how to understand the Jewish people and to share the gospel of the kingdom with them. This is one sure way that we can bless them and share the passion that Paul had for them. When we do this, according to the Word of God, He will bless us richly. God has positioned Thailand to be a blessing to Israel. Let us fulfill our God-given mandate!
