The Year of Rest: Advancing the Kingdom!
Revelation and the Breakthrough Generations!
Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand
Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter
Rev 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful
Our perspective of the Book of Revelation is critical to our interpreting it correctly. What kind of a book is the Book of Revelation? Are the contents only relevant to the church in the latter part of the First Century when this letter was probably written? Do the contents have any implications for what is happening to us today? These are very important questions!
Yes, the book of Revelation is written to the Church of the first century(latter part) and serves to encourage them in the times of tribulation. But fundamentally, the book of Revelation is a Prophetic Book(Rev 1:3). As a prophetic book, it addresses not only the situation in the first century, the book is even more relevant in the twenty-first century as the church will face even greater persecution. The rise of ISIS and what they are doing is a clear picture depicting the war between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness and the persecution facing Christians all over the world.
When Jesus spoke about “this generation” in Matthew 24, he was referring to the generation who will see the events that are happening according to his description. From what he had described, like earthquakes in diverse places, we can see that the End times that Revelation is most relevant to is our time NOW! We live in the End times that Revelation is addressing! Therefore, it is imperative for us to understand Revelation in order for us to navigate with wisdom the mind-boggling turbulence and chaos that will characterize our times. Seek to understand this book thoroughly and you will change how you will prepare for End times. Amen.
