The Altar of our Hearts!

Isaiah 43:5 Fear not, for I am with you; …7
everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

1 Cor 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’… 3 36 For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation,..

Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

When you study the history of leaders and how well they finish, you will realise that the problems that prevented them from finishing well are not their intellectual capability but what happened in their hearts! Saul was smart enough, tall enough and good enough to be the first king of Israel but he failed! David on the other hand had problems in his life but was chosen by God because of what is in his heart! In fact the book of Acts tell us that David fulfilled God’s purpose in his generation because he would do all that God had wanted him to do! Why? He was a man after God’s own heart!

Paul said in First Corinthians that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit! Every temple has an altar and where is the altar in this temple? Our Hearts!

An Altar can be described simply as a Spiritual gateway for the Kingdom of God or the kingdom of darkness! To walk victoriously with God, we must understand our hearts as spiritual altars and know how to ensure it is a spiritual gateway for the glory of God! When this happens, transformation of our hearts, souls and bodies can begin to take place and we will reflect the image and glory of God! Amen.
