Christian Leadership to Change the World!
Matthew 20: 20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something. 21 And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” 22 Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” 23 He said to them, “You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” 24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,[c] 27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,[d] 28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
These last few days I have the privilege of visiting Regent University and speaking to the key leaders here about leadership, coaching and development! The key tag line of Regent University is “Christian Leadership to Change the World!”
If we do not change the world, the disciples of satan will! Our Mandate from day one is to be fruitful, multiply and exercise dominion! Personal Leadership Effectiveness begins with our fruitfulness in the Lord. In the 11:30am last Sunday, the Lord was emphasising this theme strongly even as we soaked in His presence and many told us later that they were literally brought to a deeper place in the Father during the prophetic soaking time in Him. It was such a rejuvenating and transforming time as we dwell in the house of our Father and allow Him to minister to us deeply.
Before we can change the world, we must ourselves first be changed! Christian Leadership is leadership that exemplifies the character and values of our Lord Jesus Christ who came to reveal the Father to us!
The Concept of leadership in the minds of the disciples were quite different from what Jesus had exemplified for them! For them, leadership is about position but for Jesus, it is about humility, servanthood and change for God! The world needs leadership and it is important for us in the church to realise that we must take this calling seriously and lead like Jesus did! When we do this, the world will be changed! Amen.
